People all around

Billy’s Mentor:

Livin’ on the edge of nowhere and things aren’t likely to improve.

Whatever the good life is, it’s avoided my every move

No one is middle classed today. They’re either very poor or very rich.

Bein’ taxed right out of existence. You know that my life is just a bitch.

People all around. You hear them in the hall.

Walkin’ cross the ceilin’. Listen to them all.

Children livin’ in the street don’t hear their Mama’s call.

You see a way to get ahead and then you hit the wall.

Freedom is such an empty word, if you’ve got room to be free.

We’re all stacked up in buildings, So there ain’t no sky to see.

Open land and new frontiers been chased right off of the map.

I’m sittin’ down here at the bottom lookin’ up at the income gap.

People all around. You hear them in the hall.

Walkin’ cross the ceilin’. Listen to them all.

Children livin’ in the street don’t hear their Mama’s call.

You see a way to get ahead and then you hit the wall.

Sleeper ships, they aren’t for me. I’m too old and set in my way.

Billy, you got the chance to save some lives. So pilot these people away.

There’s a future in the stars. Not this rock in total decay.

No pollution, cars, or crowds at all. A new planet, you’re on your way.

People all around. You hear them in the hall.

Walkin’ cross the ceilin’. Listen to them all.

Children livin’ in the street, they don’t hear their Mama’s call.

You see a way to get ahead and then you hit the wall.
